Review: Pierre Victoire

Wonderful little French bistro on Dean Street. Although there are Italian dishes on the menu also. The atmosphere is relaxed and it feels light and airy despite the tables being quite close together.

We used a Time Out deal to get lunch here which comprised of a main, dessert and a glass of prosecco. As with most places you don’t quite get the same service as you would if you were a regular paying customer which isn’t the best way to treat customers. If you are going to offer these kind of deals you will get people using them, it shouldn’t really affect the way you do business. The point is to get repeat customers surely? We didn’t get the bread basket or the smiling faces but luckily the food made up for it.

I wasn’t keen on the prosecco but I always find prosecco hit or miss or perhaps it was just cheap. The duck confit was OK but I had a fantastic pork cutlet. It seemed like it was deep fried. I’m not entirely sure what the crumb on the outside was but it was perfectly cooked. It came with fluffy mashed potato, 2 slices of carrot (lol) divine garlic tomatoes and the most delicious cream sauce.

The stars of the show however were the desserts. It was almost impossible to choose from the long list of tantalising delights on offer but I opted for the lime panna cotta with raspberry sorbet. Oh my word is was so unbelievably good! The combination of the sour and sweet worked so well and I probably could have eaten a bucket full. Also ordered on our table was a banoffee pie with actual pieces of banana in it and a coffee ice cream. I didn’t hear any complaints about these either and the presentation of all 3 made you want to tuck in even more.

It is definitely a place I would return to. The place offers some really great set menus which weren’t far off the deal prices we paid anyway. This includes some pre-theatre meals too if you are heading to the area for a show.
